Zhengye Road is the main avenue at the south gate of the Xili Campus(Xili Lake Area), connecting the south gateand the student residential area. Its name is derived from The Record of Learningin The Book of Rites:“In the teaching of the Great Learning, there must always be proper disciplines.”This phrase suggests that academic pursuits must have a found ation and teaching should follow norms.By naming the road Zhengye (“Proper Learning”or“Right Study”), the University encourages teachers and students to adhere to the fundamentals of learning and to cultivate a rigorous teaching style within a solid academic atmosphere. As teachers and students walk along this road, they are reminded—step by step—of the importance of learning and the steadfastness required in scholarly pursuits.
